The privileges of the holder of an SEP (L) Class Rating are to act as PIC in non-commercial operations on single-engine piston aeroplanes-land (SEP(land).

SEP (L) Class Rating

The privileges of the holder of an SEP (L) Class Rating are to act as PIC in non-commercial operations on single-engine piston aeroplanes-land (SEP(land).

Before commencing a Single Engine Piston (SEP) class rating the student must hold a valid pilot’s licence.

The following items will be reviewed during the pre-flight briefings.

  • Detailed listing for aeroplane structure and equipment, normal operation of systems and malfunctions.
  • Limitations
  • Performance, flight planning and monitoring
  • Load and balance and servicing
  • Emergency procedures
  • Special requirements for ‘glass cockpit’ aeroplanes with EFIS additional learning objectives
  • Flight management systems

Theoretical knowledge examination shall be conducted verbally by the examiner during the skill test to determine whether or not a satisfactory level of knowledge has been achieved.

Flight Training depends on the experience and of the applicant. A tailored made training will be provided by Royal Flight Center.

Validity


Single-engine piston (SEP) class ratings are valid for 2 years, counted from the end of the calendar month in which you completed your skill test.

Revalidation by Skill Test


The applicant shall within the 3 months preceding the expiry date of the rating, pass a proficiency check in the relevant class in accordance with EASA Appendix 9 to Part-FCL with an examiner.

Revalidation by Experience


The applicant shall within the 12 months preceding the expiry date of the rating, complete 12 hours of flight time in the relevant class, including 6 hours as PIC, 12 take-offs and 12 landings, and refresher training of at least 1 hour of total flight time with a flight instructor (FI) or a class rating instructor (CRI).

Note:
Applicant shall be exempted from this refresher training if they have passed a class or type rating proficiency check, skill test or assessment of competence in any other class or type of aeroplane.

Renewal


For the renewal of a SEP(L) class rating, applicant shall Complete Refresher training is necessary for the applicant to reach the level of proficiency to safely operate the aircraft, they shall undergo an assessment via the Organisation.
