Light Aircraft Pilot’s License

The Light Aircraft Pilot License (LAPL) allows the holder to operate as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in non-commercial operations on single-engine piston (SEP) aeroplanes with a maximum certificated take-off mass of 2,000 kg or less. License holders may carry up to three passengers, ensuring no more than four persons are on board the aircraft at any time. This license provides a straightforward path to enjoying recreational flying while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements
  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Obtain an EASA Class 2 Medical Certificate before conducting any solo flights
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English
  • Possess foundational knowledge of mathematics and physics
  • Successfully pass a basic math and physics entry exam
topics covered
The course covers a wide range of essential topics, including Principles of Flight, Air Law and ATC Procedures, Operational Procedures, Communications, Navigation, Flight Performance and Planning, Human Performance, Meteorology, and Aircraft General Knowledge. Each subject is assessed through a multiple-choice exam with a required pass mark of 75%. Additionally, students are required to complete the ICAO English Language Proficiency Check to meet international aviation standards.
Duration 3-5 Months
FLIGHT training
30 hours of flight instruction, which includes:
  • 24 hours of dual flight instruction with an instructor
  • 6 hours of supervised solo flight time, including:
  • At least 3 hours of solo cross-country flight
  • A minimum of 1 cross-country flight covering at least 150 km (80 NM) with 1 full-stop landing at an aerodrome different from the aerodrome of departure
  • LAPL(A) License Skill Test: Conducted with an authorized examiner
