Night Rating

The Night Rating Course is designed to qualify Part-FCL license holders to operate aircraft safely and effectively during nighttime conditions. This program focuses on building confidence and competence in low-light environments, teaching essential skills such as night navigation, takeoffs, landings, and understanding the unique challenges of night flying. Upon completion, pilots will be authorized to exercise their privileges during nighttime operations, significantly enhancing their versatility and broadening their flight capabilities.

Requirements
  • Hold a valid EASA PPL(A)
  • Obtain an EASA Class 2 Medical Certificate

The Night Rating Course covers a wide range of essential topics, including night VMC minima, airspace control rules, and aerodrome lighting regulations. Students will learn about aircraft navigation lights, collision avoidance procedures, and the physiological aspects of night vision and orientation. The course also addresses the dangers of disorientation, weather deterioration, and icing conditions, along with practical and radio navigation principles. Additional topics include instrument systems, cockpit lighting, and planning techniques to ensure safe operations at night.
Duration 1 Week
FLIGHT training
5 hours of flight training, which includes:
  • 4 hours of dual instruction at night
  • At least 1 hour of cross-country navigation
  • A minimum of 1 dual cross-country flight covering at least 50 km (27 NM)
  • 5 solo takeoffs and 5 solo full-stop landings at night
