Performance Based Navigation
Since August 25, 2020, Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) has been a required component of all EASA Instrument Rating (IR) courses. Pilots who completed IR training prior to this date and do not have a PBN endorsement on their license must complete a PBN course to retain the privileges of their Instrument Rating. This ensures compliance with current regulations and enhances navigational precision and safety in modern airspace operations.

The course covers a wide range of essential topics, including Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) principles, advanced navigation systems, and flight planning techniques. Additional subjects include operational procedures for PBN, airspace classifications, human factors in navigation, and the integration of PBN with existing instrument flying practices. Each subject is assessed through practical application and skill demonstrations, ensuring pilots meet the required proficiency standards to add PBN privileges to their license.
